Cat / Kitten Purchase Agreement and Contract

This agreement, made in the state of Maine, USA, is subject to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations of Maine, USA. Laws of another state and/or country have no authority over the transaction contained herein.

Transportation of kitten/cat to another state or country is for purchaser’s convenience only. Purchaser is solely responsible for all costs related to transport of kitten/cat.

VeritasDolls Ragdoll Cattery is committed to finding loving homes for happy, healthy Ragdolls. Kittens are released to new owners only when they are ready to be separated from their mothers, usually at age eleven to sixteen weeks.That is, kittens must have adequate physical, social, and emotional maturity to adjust to new environments with minimal stress.

Breeder and purchaser will agree to a specific pick up date via e-mail.

The total price for a pet quality kitten/cat is six hundred fifty US dollars ($650.00) Show quality kittens/cats are eight hundred US dollars ($800.00) and come with full showing rights in The International Cat Association (TICA).

A non-refundable deposit of two hundred dollars ($200.00), payable as cash or money order, is due when Purchase Agreement and Contract is signed. This indicates that a specific kitten/cat has been agreed upon for purchase/sale. Deposit will be deducted from total purchase price. The balance, also payable as cash or money order, is due at the time of kitten/cat pick up. If purchaser fails to take custody of kitten/cat within three days of the agreed upon pick up date, breeder reserves the rights to cancel this agreement without notice and to place kitten/cat with a different purchaser. Upon placement of kitten/cat with different purchaser, breeder will refund monies paid by original purchaser toward kitten/cat less the non-refundable two hundred US dollars ($200.00) deposit.

Deposit may be refunded in full and sale cancelled by VeritasDolls Ragdoll Cattery for any or no specific stated reason at breeder’s sole discretion.

Purchaser Agrees to the Following:

1. Under no circumstances will kitten/cat be traded, given, sold, or leased to any other person(s), pet shop, kitten mill, research lab, or shelter.
2. If purchaser becomes unable to provide sufficient care for kitten/cat for any reason, or if kitten/cat is found to be maintained in neglectful, unhealthy, or abusive conditions, purchaser will immediately surrender kitten/cat to breeder unconditionally. No refund, in full or in part, will be granted if purchaser must surrender kitten/cat. Purchaser is responsible for all transportation, legal and court fees, costs, and fines associated with the surrender of kitten/cat
3. Purchaser will provide kitten/cat with vaccinations and medical care deemed necessary by a registered veterinarian at all times. Purchaser further agrees to provide to breeder all health records associated with kitten/cat immediately upon request. Copying and faxing costs for such requests will be reimbursed to the purchaser at the rate of ten US cents(.10) per 8x11 1/2 inch printed page. Fontmust be in a font or text size similar to that of the original document(s).
4. Purchaser will not have kitten/cat declawed for any reason other than the kitten’s/cat’s absolute medical necessity as determined in writing by two registered veterinarians.
5. Adequate food, water, litter, and safe, sanitary indoor facilities must be provided at all times. If kitten/cat spends any time outdoors, purchaser agrees to provide a sufficiently large, full enclosure, a shelter (such as a small dog house), and clean water. Kitten/cat will not be placed on a leash unsupervised. Kitten/cat will not be allowed to roam outdoors unattended.
6. Purchaser agrees that FIP vaccine will not be administered to kitten/cat under any circumstances. If FIP vaccine is administered to animal, the entirety of this contract will be null and void.

Breeder Agrees to the Following:

1. Breeder agrees to provide a complete medical history and records of all vaccines that kitten/cat has received.

2. Kitten/cat is guaranteed for seventy two (72) hours after pick up against upper respiratory infections, fleas, worms, fungus, conjunctivitis, and ear mites. Purchaser is advised to take kitten/cat to a registered veterinarian for a complete examination. Breeder is not responsible for costs associated with veterinary care, medical treatment, hospitalization, medication, dewormerrs, insecticides, fungicides, specialty or other types of  food, or other costs incurred by purchaser after the initial seventy two (72) hour guarantee has elapsed.

3. Breeder guarantees that kitten/cat is FeLV, FIV, and FIP negative at time of placement. Breeder strongly advises against administration of FeLV vaccine unless a Leukemia positive cat already resides in purchaser’s home.

4. Kitten/cat is believed free of genetic and hereditary defects. However, if said animal dies, breeder offers a two (2) year guarantee as follows:

a.) If cat dies of a genetic or hereditary condition within first (1st) year after purchase, a replacement kitten or cat of equal or better quality from a present or future litter will be offered, or a refund of the total purchase price will be issued.

b.) If cat dies of a genetic or hereditary defect within second (2nd) year after purchase, a replacement kitten or cat of equal or better quality from a present or future litter will be offered only.

Before any refund or replacement, breeder requires complete medical records and necropsy validating the presence of a genetic or hereditary condition; these are to be provided at purchaser’s expense.

5. If said kitten/cat is purchased as a stud male or breeding queen, and it does not produce a litter of kittens by age two years for reason of genetic defect or reproductive organ problem as certified by a licensed veterinarian (certification must state nature of defect and include a neuter/spay certificate for kitten/cat), Breeder will replace kitten/cat with one of same or better quality. Breeder is not responsible for re-absorbed kittens, stillborn, or deformed kittens born of the breeding kitten/cat.

Purchaser's signature indicates full agreement with all the above terms and conditions.
